Healthy female rat between 15 and 24 months of age.

No ill health recorded.

* Treatment history
No medical treatment ever give.

* Symptoms prior to death
Showed no signs of illness or respiratory troubles. Rat was considered to be in good health.

The spleen. No signs of ill health. 

The kidneys. Average amount of fatty tissue around the organs. Older rats tend to have more fat stores around the organs despite being of a good average, healthy wight. 

The stomach laid out properly to show the organ and how it functions. Subject was clearly eating and processing food well. 

A healthy liver.

The lungs. Extensive signs of gradual lung scarring. Signs of infection are present and lung damage despite the fact that tjis rat showed no signs of being in ill health. As you can see from the stomach the Rat was eating and processing food normally. 

Fluid sitting in the bronchial tube. In this cross section you can see small signs of scarring and unhealthy tissue.
